Let’s take you through a full real wedding day at the Barns at Stonehurst!

As a photographer, Stonehurst at Hampton Valley is one of my favorite venues for couples seeking a Connecticut barn wedding. Stonehurst is set far from any main roads in an idyllic, and pastoral 90-acre property that boasts privacy and intimacy for weddings of all sizes. Regardless of season, weather, or wedding size, the AMAZING team at Stonehurst ensures that couples feel stress free on their wedding day so they can focus on making memories. Finding a venue and team that makes you feel like your wedding day is their most important priority sets Stonehurst apart from so many other venues. 

Stonehurst is self described as “unique and versatile, rustic, yet chic” and those words ring true! The Barns at Stonehurst combines a traditional warm wood build with modern design elements – my favorites are the concrete floor which provides wonderful contrast to the wood, and the elegant matte black chandelier! The Barns in particular cater toward larger weddings, accommodating just shy of 300 guests (299!).

Getting Ready Suites at the Barns

The Barns also boast two dedicated getting ready spaces, one for each partner and their attendants, with hair and make up stations. The ground floor level suite is natural light filled, modern and has an open floor plan yet two distinct spaces. One with the hair and makeup stations, and another for stunning getting ready photos, casual relaxing on the bright sectional, a closet for hanging dresses and clothes and getting other items out of sight, and a long farmhouse table for snacks and refreshments! There is ample space to move around AND as a year round venue, it has both heat and air conditioning. The second suite is more rustic. It certainly borrows the traditional lodge aesthetic but has its own modern and playful updates, including but not limited to a foosball table, large television, comfy leather couches, and a few modern design features. Having the ability to get ready on site cuts down wedding day travel and maximizes the time that you have to enjoy your day, and have coverage with your photographer, videographer, or content creator! 

Ceremonies at the Enchanted Forest at Stonehurst

Stonehurst has three beautiful ceremony locations, and the main ceremony spot for the Barns is the Enchanted Forest! It is surrounded by 360 degrees of trees and it is truly a secluded fairytale dream. In the summer it is a great respite from direct sunlight and in the fall, I can only imagine the vibrant colors. Catie and Mike were so beyond excited to have their wedding ceremony there, and they decorated it beautifully. Green Valley Floral Designs provided gorgeous floral arrangements for the Chuppah. It was an unforgettable experience and a ceremony space unlike any other! It can accommodate a huge number of guests while still feeling intimate. It’s also a great backdrop for wedding party photos just inside and outside of the Enchanted forest – and don’t get me started on the swing!! 

Cocktail Hour at Stonehurst at Hampton Valley

Cocktail hour utilizes the gorgeous patio (tented on this occasion), the bar area inside of the barn. Stonehurst doesn’t skimp on the custom cocktails or the most amazing passed hors d’oeuvres! Seriously, there are only a couple of places that rival Stonehurst’s appetizers. During this time there is also great access to the green areas for any group photos *think all of your college pals*.  THEN, I could talk about the huge glorious sliding barn doors that are used for introductions to the reception until the cows come home. They are thoughtfully designed and such a gorgeous element. They’re a beautiful backdrop for introductions and first dances, together or with parents/step parents. I also recently found out that the SH team also does things like refinishing their farm tables in the off season ensuring fresh updated vibes for each new wedding season and every couple that walks through their doors. This team means it when attention to detail is concerned  (Jenna, Francesca and Kayla I’m looking at you all!!)

We can’t forget the firepit for a Connecticut Barn Wedding!

Finally, the fire pit is a great place to step away from the reception for a few moments of privacy for a newly married couple during sunset and come nightfall, the night photos are literal perfection! You can’t ask for a better way to end the night!

• Although it is physically set off the main road, it is still easily accessible by Providence Turnpike! 
• They are a full service wedding venue providing: getting ready suites, ceremony venues, reception venues, catering, and coordination! 
• If you want even more space, with two totally different feels, you can do a Full Buyout for both the Mansion, and the Barns! Look at a wedding at the Mansion, here!
• The barn has ample parking and a trolley to bring guests to the more secluded ceremony areas and a golf cart to get the couple or wedding party from one place to another, quickly!
• Music can be played inside of the barns / mansion all the way until 11:30!! 
• They supply chairs and have an add on option for linens and napkins. 
• Importantly – they have AC (and heat).
• There is another gorgeous ceremony space called the “Little River.”
• They provide a tasting for couples in January of their wedding year.
